In the wake of sharp budget cuts, the UNLV Barrick Museum announces an exhibition and benefit auction drawing on the best of Las Vegas artists with an exhibition titled “We Will Survive”. The exhibition will run September 23rd to November 9th and will consist entirely of works by local artists donated to the Museum. During a November 9th benefit, all donated works will be available for purchase in a silent auction, with proceeds from the sale of artworks directly supporting the Museum.
All artists are invited to donate work and to help the Barrick Museum remain a leading part of the Las Vegas community. In a lot of ways, this event marks the Barrick’s “coming out” in the Las Vegas arts community -- although the Museum has a long history of hosting quality art exhibitions, in the wake of UNLV funding cuts the Museum is shifting its Mission to focus primarily on art.
Donations will be accepted by the Museum until September 4, and a ”sneak peek” reception will be held on September 23rd, 7:00 - 9:00pm. For information on participating in the exhibition and/or benefit auction contact the Museum at (702) 895-3381 or by email at barrick.museum@unlv.edu, or visit the Museum’s website at http://barrickmuseum.unlv.edu
